About Tia Tutors
Tia Tutors was founded by Tia Halawi, an experienced educator with a passion for helping students succeed. She graduated from a top international school in Dubai, where she earned the Top 3 IBDP Grade Achiever Award, and completed her GCSEs with straight A*s. She is currently completing her master’s in Chemical Engineering, where her love for teaching continues to grow alongside her scientific training.
​Inspired by her mother, a lifelong teacher, Tia developed a tutoring approach that is empathetic, adaptable, and results-driven. What began as casual support for classmates quickly evolved into a trusted tutoring service, built through word-of-mouth and consistent student success.
Since its founding, Tia Tutors has supported over 30 students in IB and GCSE Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Tia has also led exam-prep sessions at The Learn Academy in Spain and served as a teaching assistant in chemical engineering laboratories and academic subjects.
At Tia Tutors, the focus is on building confidence, mastering exam strategies, and developing effective study habits—because with the right support, every student can thrive.

Tia Halawi
Founder & Head Tutor
IB & GCSE Chemistry and Physics
Tia achieved top GCSE and IB scores and is currently pursuing a master’s in Chemical Engineering at the University of Groningen. She has taught at an international school in Spain and supported university students as a teaching assistant.
Maria Arede
Senior Tutor
IB & GCSE Chemistry and Biology
Maria finished the IB program with a top score of 41/45 in May 2024. Currently she studies dentistry in the university of Lisbon. She is specialised in tutoring IB and GCSE Biology and Chemistry. In her tutoring sessions she uses her own experience with each of the subjects to help students better understand how to tackle the content.

"Hi my name is Ahmed and at the beginning of this year I was struggling at the start with chemistry and it was getting really difficult specially because I was switched from an IB school to a GCSE school and from what I have seen they are very different in styles and I was getting really bad marks but then I was able to Contact with Ms Tia we started to do all of the chemistry content from the beginning to end even if I was confidant with some parts we still went over it in case I forgot anything and by the end of the first term I was able to go from a 2 in chemistry to a 6 in just under a few weeks and so she was very helpful with my revision and we where able to make a timeline of everything we would want to do in this subject ."
